About Ryan Helfenbein

Ryan Helfenbein is the Executive Director of the Standing for Freedom Center and serves as Vice President of Communications and Public Engagement at Liberty University. He is the host of the Give Me Liberty weekly podcast and a frequent contributor on In Focus with Alison Steinberg.

Leadership in Government and Public Policy

Before joining the Freedom Center, Ryan served in key political and communications roles focused on advancing conservative values:

  • Deputy Executive Director for Communications with Governor Matt Bevin (R-KY)
  • Public Information Officer for Kentucky’s Department for Local Government
  • Project Manager for a federal initiative reforming state occupational licensing laws, aimed at reducing workforce barriers and improving ethical governance

Training & Thought Leadership

In his work on regulatory reform, Ryan led training for state licensing boards – offering legal, ethical, and strategic guidance to prevent conflict and improve state oversight.

Education

  • M.Div., Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
  • B.A. in Economics, University of Texas at Austin

With deep roots in theology, economics, and civic engagement, Ryan brings a bold, biblical worldview to today’s most pressing cultural issues.
