While we shouldn’t celebrate the loss of anyone’s job, we should celebrate the dismantling of USAID, which for decades has been squandering our tax dollars to sow sinful corruption in other countries and indoctrinate the world with transgenderism, homosexuality, atheism, and eugenics.
In a bold move that promises to restore some sanity and decency to American foreign aid and diplomatic soft-power projection, the Trump administration has embarked on a mission to shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The recent saga began with an executive order from President Trump on January 20, 2025, freezing foreign assistance for 90 days to conduct a thorough review of how taxpayer money was being spent overseas. This was followed by a series of aggressive actions by the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Elon Musk.
On February 3, 2025, Musk announced his intent to “shut down” USAID, a statement that was later confirmed by President Trump himself, who characterized the agency as being run by “radical lunatics.” As NBC News reported, “Musk called USAID ‘beyond repair’ and ‘hopeless.’ He also said the agency was ‘not an apple with a worm in it, but we have actually just a ball of worms.’
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has now assumed the role of “acting administrator” of USAID. In an interview with Fox News, Rubio exposed USAID as a rogue agency, bluntly stating that it is rife with “rank insubordination” and that “we had no choice but to take dramatic steps to bring this thing under control.”
He added:
“They have basically evolved into an agency that believes that they’re not even a U.S. government agency…they’re completely unresponsive. They just don’t consider that they work for the US.
They just think they’re a global entity and that their master is the globe and not the United States. And that’s not sustainable.
The goal was to reform it. But now we have rank insubordination. Their basic attitude is we don’t work for anyone. We work for ourselves. No agency of government can tell us what to do.
There are things that are happening at USAID that we should not be involved in funding or that we have a lot of questions about, but they’re completely uncooperative. So we had no choice but to take dramatic steps to bring this thing under control.”
For a few days, the entire USAID website and social media accounts were offline. Rubio has also physically locked down USAID’s headquarters and instructed employees to stay home while the agency pursues a complete merger with the State Department.
As of Tuesday evening, the USAID website was back up with a single page informing employees that “On Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:59 pm (EST) all USAID direct hire personnel will be placed on administrative leave globally, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs. Essential personnel expected to continue working will be informed by Agency leadership by Thursday, February 6, at 3:00pm (EST).”
Congressional Democrats in both the House and Senate, along with many in the media, have decried Trump’s action as “unconstitutional” and “lawless.” In doing so, they forget the salient fact that USAID as we know it was established in 1961 by an executive order from President John F. Kennedy. Yes, the legislative framework for USAID was set by the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, an act passed by Congress to reorganize U.S. foreign assistance programs and to consolidate various aid efforts under one agency. However, the internal organization of USAID is not set in statute.
Over 60 years later, it’s now painfully obvious that what began as a tool of soft power against Soviet influence (or so it was claimed) quickly morphed into a sprawling labyrinth of corruption, grift, and deep state rot.
Thanks to the Internet and social media, the veil over USAID’s operations has been lifted, revealing a disturbing pattern of spending that would make any patriotic taxpayer cringe. Through post after post, the agency has been exposed for using U.S. funds in ways that not only subvert our national interests but actively promote ideologies that are antithetical to American (and frankly just decent) values.
While hundreds of examples could be provided, the White House helpfully put out a list of some of the most absurd expenditures by USAID in recent history, which includes the following:
It’s also been revealed that USAID spent almost half a million dollars to promote atheism in Nepal. That’s right — your tax dollars are going abroad to “encourage” people to NOT believe in God.
As Daily Signal writer Jarrett Stepman put it:
“Organizations like USAID became enlisted in what can be described as no less than the creation of a global leftist empire. No longer would it be tailored toward narrow American interests or containing the global communist threat. Instead, it would be a conduit to siphon U.S. taxpayer dollars to various leftist projects, many of which are deeply resented by other nations.”
Beyond financial waste, USAID has an even darker side. It’s now been exposed that USAID was involved in biological research in places like Wuhan, China, which most likely contributed to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, there’s a growing revelation that USAID acts as a covert arm for CIA operations, using humanitarian aid as a cover for political meddling. Glenn Beck recently covered this on his podcast. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has made the same claim in an interview with Tucker Carlson, and former State Department official Mike Benz has been making this case as well.
A political advisor to Viktor Orban in Hungary has raised major flags about the agenda pushed by former USAID Administrator Samantha Power, noting, in particular, the money funneled to George Soros organizations from USAID to disrupt the pro-conservative, pro-Christian Orban regime and to empower LGBT activists.
What’s perhaps most telling in this saga is the fierce defense of USAID by Democrats. Their outcry against these reforms reveals where their priorities lie — not with the American taxpayer or the national interest but with maintaining a global network of influence that promotes a wasteful and woke agenda.
With straight faces, they argue that the agency, known, by their words, for its “effective” distribution of taxpayer dollars, is somehow misunderstood by the ungrateful masses.
Oh, how noble they sound, defending an organization that, coincidentally, funnels funds into the pockets of well-connected NGOs and consultants. It’s almost as if they’re saying, “Look, we’re not just keeping the slush fund alive for our cronies; we’re saving the world, one overpriced conference in a five-star resort at a time!”
The irony here is so thick you could cut it with a butter knife, or better yet, one of those gold-plated ones that they probably expense to the American public.
This aggressive defense of an agency so clearly misaligned with the interests of average Americans speaks volumes about the priorities of those in the opposition. They are more concerned with preserving a platform for their globalist ideology and their corrupt kickbacks than ensuring that U.S. foreign aid serves the strategic and moral interests of the United States.
The shuttering of USAID is a victory for fiscal responsibility, Christian values, national sovereignty, and an America First policy that respects both our taxpayers and our allies.
And it’s a big win for Christian taxpayers, too. The idea that your money is being used to promote transgenderism, abortion, and atheism around the world, wrapped in the flag of the United States and under the guise of “humanitarian aid,” should be more than enough to make you want to follow Jesus Christ in flipping some tables.
As Isaiah 5:20 warns us, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.”
USAID has been putting darkness for light and calling evil good around the world on our dime for decades now, squandering our tax dollars to sow sinful corruption in other countries and indoctrinating the world with transgenderism, homosexuality, and atheism.
This organization has been one of the main U.S. government-sanctioned vehicles for promoting these so-called “progressive’” ideologies, which directly oppose Christian teachings. Given all that, the shutdown of USAID is a blessing, ensuring that American tax dollars won’t be used to invert God’s moral order by celebrating sin and attacking the very fabric of God’s moral order.
While we don’t need to celebrate the loss of anyone’s job, it’s appropriate to celebrate the end of USAID, as it stops the misuse of funds to promote what is clearly evil masquerading as good.
The left’s backlash only underscores the necessity of this reform. Let’s hope these changes mark the beginning of an era in which American foreign aid is both effective and reflective of true American and Christian values.
