Romans 13 clearly states that governments are instituted by God for the primary purpose of restraining evil. And by that standard, the U.S. government is failing miserably.
Years of dereliction of duty by Congress, the courts, and the executive branch in securing our country’s borders have led to untold suffering over the last few decades. Crimes committed by illegal aliens — including rape, murder, vehicular manslaughter, bringing deadly drugs into our country, and operating human trafficking and prostitution rings — are all easily preventable realities.
Instead, our leaders have allowed the crisis to grow exponentially by ignoring sanctuary cities and soft-on-crime policies, while the outgoing administration didn’t just neglect its duty to protect our borders but actively worked to thwart the sovereignty of those borders.
Americans have paid the price because the U.S. government and many state and local officials prioritized criminal aliens over Americans and legal immigrants.
Take the case of Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, 23, a member of a Salvadoran gang, who is now suspected of being a potential serial killer. Martinez-Hernandez murdered a woman in El Salvador in January 2023. He then allegedly attempted to cross the U.S. border into El Paso, Texas, where he was apprehended and turned back into Mexico.
Martinez-Hernandez would attempt his border crossing three more times before finally eluding border authorities in New Mexico. In March 2023, he assaulted a 9-year-old girl and her mother in an invasion of their Los Angeles home. He then escaped to Maryland, where he encountered Rachel Morin, a mother of five children, running on the Ma & Pa Trail in Bel Air, Maryland.
The illegal immigrant brutally assaulted Morin and dragged her off the trail. Morin’s body was found in a culvert with her clothes removed. Martinez-Hernandez had raped her and bashed her head in with a rock.
He was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this summer. Authorities suspect he has more victims.
Ecuadorian Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi entered the country illegally with his 3-year-old son but was deemed “inadmissible” because he didn’t have proper documentation; still, he was released into the United States for “humanitarian reasons.” He was ordered to leave the United States by an immigration judge in February 2022 but he did not leave and was never deported. On June 13 in broad daylight he held a 13-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy at knifepoint with a “machete-style” blade. He forced them to a part of the park that was hidden, tied them up, and sexually assaulted the girl.
Two Venezuelan illegal immigrants, Jose Pena Ramos and Johan Jose Rangel Martinez both entered the country illegally in May 2024. Both were fitted with an ankle monitor, but Rangel Martinez’s was removed after authorities discovered he had no criminal history.
Soon thereafter, the two somehow encountered 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray. They were caught on camera at a 7-Eleven store with Nungaray before they took her under a bridge, tied her hands and feet, stripped her, and assaulted her for two hours before strangling her and throwing her body in a bayou. Her body was found with cuts on her back. The pair were found with scratches and bite marks as a result of the 12-year-old trying to fight back.
Pena Ramos cut off his ankle monitor two days after Nungaray’s body was found.
Of course, the most high-profile case in the news, was that of Laken Riley. A week before Thanksgiving, Riley’s murderer, Jose Ibarra, 26, was sentenced to life in prison without parole after he was found guilty of 10 counts, including one count of malice murder; three counts of felony murder; and one count each of kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, aggravated battery, obstructing an emergency call, evidence tampering, and being a peeping Tom.
Ibarra attacked Riley while she was running on the University of Georgia’s campus. He dragged Riley 60 feet off the trail and attempted to rape her. Riley struggled for 18 minutes to prevent the rape, but Ibarra eventually murdered her by hitting her in the head with a rock repeatedly.
Ibarra had crossed the border illegally in El Paso in 2022. According to DHS, he was released into the United States due to lack of bed space. He skipped his court date and was later arrested in New York City for child injury in 2023. Local authorities released him before Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could issue a detainer for him.
Ibarra went to the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City and got a “humanitarian flight” to Athens, Georgia. The flight was paid for by New York City.
He was arrested for shoplifting in Athens last fall but skipped his court date and had an active warrant out for his arrest.
When authorities investigated Ibarra and his brother for Riley’s murder, they saw that the pair had tattoos appearing to be gang tattoos. It was confirmed in court that Ibarra is a member of the brutal Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, sometimes referred to as TdA.
Tren de Aragua and crime from Venezuela have made headlines as the gang increases its operations around the nation, taking over apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, this summer. The gang is known for human trafficking and prostitution, murders, shooting police officers, assault, robbery, and gun smuggling.
Although the gang has reportedly made Denver its base of operations, it has expanded its activities to at least 16 states, according to a U.S. Homeland Security memo. “As the population of Venezuelan nationals continues to increase, the potential for violent TdA migrants is highly probable,” the memo says.
In fact, it’s already expanded its reach into all four of Tennessee’s major cities, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, and Nashville, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) Director David Rausch told Fox News.
Rausch explains that despite the obvious threat, TBI is limited in its abilities to deal with the gang members because many don’t have immigration detainers.
“If we come upon them and they have a detainer on them, then we can take them into custody. But other than that, then all we can do is monitor and, and assure that they aren’t violating the law. But that is a challenge,” he said.
Notably, gang members include teenagers, which is especially concerning considering that the Department of Homeland Security under the Biden-Harris administration has lost track of hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied minors.
It’s hardly a surprise then that Americans, tired of the open borders policies, voted to elect Donald Trump. While Kamala Harris refused to even acknowledge the pain and destruction the open borders are causing, Trump promised to not only build a wall and secure the border but also to deport illegal immigrants. In fact, 62 percent of Americans polled in June said they support a program to deport all illegal immigrants, not just those with a criminal record and gang affiliation.
Americans have seen the evil that unlimited, unvetted, illegal immigration has unleashed on their country and their communities. And due to one of the most brilliant political moves in American history, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s shipping illegals to sanctuary cities and the areas of the Northeast elites, people in places far from the border can’t ignore it anymore.
The combination of open border policies with soft-on-crime district attorneys has created completely avoidable tragedies. And the lunacy only continues. In New York City, where left-wing DA Alvin Bragg has repeatedly released criminals, his own assistant DA was robbed in the hallway of her apartment building by an illegal immigrant and member of Tren de Aragua. The illegal, who also exposed himself to her, has been arrested six times since his arrival in New York City in 2023.
Enough is enough. To those who are put into office: Do your job.
The chief purpose of government is to protect its citizens and enforce the law. The chief purpose of the federal government is to protect its citizens from foreign threats. Does anyone feel like the federal government, which has spent hundreds of billions of dollars relocating and housing illegal immigrants, is protecting its citizens from foreign threats?
Tammy Nobles, whose 20-year-old autistic daughter Kayla Hamilton was raped and murdered by a 17-year-old MS-13 gang member from El Salvador, filed suit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The MS-13 gang member isn’t named in reports due to being a minor.
As Nobles said regarding the horrific rape and murder of her daughter, “I’ve found that the story is just so mind-boggling, how nobody at the border did their job and checked his background. All they had to do was make one phone call to El Salvador to know that he was an MS-13 gang member on the list.”
Her lawyer Brian Claypool argued,
“We’re bringing this lawsuit because we’re tired of being held hostage in our own country. We’re tired of DHS playing Russian roulette with our lives [and] with Kayla’s life. That’s why we brought this case. We’re alleging that two federal agencies catastrophically failed Kayla … and are failing everybody. This could happen anywhere to anybody. The DHS just needs to be held accountable.”
Many are rejoicing at the election of Donald Trump, hoping that his administration and new border czar Tom Homan will close the border and deport illegal immigrants, particularly violent ones.
Still, our nation faces resistance. Despite the clear statement the American people have made regarding this issue, left-wing cities, mayors, and police departments are vowing not to assist ICE in their efforts to arrest and deport even those illegal immigrants with criminal records and deportation orders.
In other words, they are prioritizing criminals over Americans — a clear violation of both their biblical and constitutional duty.
If these people won’t do what they were elected to do and uphold the law, they should be removed from office via a recall election, or even arrested, and the federal government should withhold funding from sanctuary cities.
All states should do as Abbott has done and designate TdA (or MS-13 and other violent gangs) as a foreign terrorist organization and target them.
If someone comes into the country illegally, that person is a criminal who has shown no respect for our borders, our laws, or the American people. As Trump said about the two illegals who assaulted and murdered Jocelyn Nungaray, “These monsters should never have been in our country.”
He’s correct: They shouldn’t have been. And if they hadn’t, Jocelyn, and all the other victims, would still be alive and enjoying the holidays with their families.
Immigration is not a right but a privilege.
It is time to deport illegal immigrants, secure our border, overhaul our immigration system, and use the full weight of the law, including the death penalty, to punish those who commit murder and other monstrous acts. This will not only protect Americans but act as a deterrent.
Americans must demand that our leaders honor their oaths and their duty and end this foreign assault on our sovereignty and our people. The lives of American people are at stake.
