The future of the West isn’t looking particularly bright these days — or free. Let’s consider the “three Cs” of totalitarian progression that are unfolding in front of our eyes to get a sense of what this path might look like: California, Canada, and China.
First, all of America becomes California. Under the “Californization” of the United States, we will see an ever-expanding nanny state that comes after parents who want to spare their kids from radical gender ideology, while doing nothing to stop out-of-control homelessness and drug use, rising crime, skyrocketing home prices, and an unceasing influx of illegal immigrants.
Next, we become Canada. In the northern land of polite people, maple syrup, and ice hockey, we have seen draconian COVID lockdown measures; forced vaccine policies; pastors harassed and imprisoned; martial law declared, civil rights denied, and the bank accounts of dissidents frozen over a peaceful protest; and increasing and shocking reliance on euthanasia as “healthcare.”
The final stage is China, a communist-run surveillance state that controls every movement, every decision of their imprisoned “citizens” — and apparently considers Big Brother from 1984 as a model, not a warning.
Keep this in mind: First, we become California, then Canada, and finally China. That is, of course, unless freedom-loving patriots, conservatives, and Christians stand athwart history and do more than just yell “stop!”
But it’s the second stage of this dystopian slide into tyranny I want to focus on here: What’s happening in Canada right now.
And what is happening? At the highest levels of government, nothing good. But among the people? Tens of thousands of Canadian parents have apparently had enough of the sinful LGBTQIA+ indoctrination and sexually explicit material being foisted upon their young children in public schools.
Fox News reported,
“Thousands of demonstrators gathered in cities across Canada on Wednesday as a conservative movement against ‘gender ideology’ in schools was confronted by pro-LGBTQ+ protesters.
The nationwide peaceful protests, organized under the banner ‘1 Million March for Children,’ stretched from Vancouver to Ottawa. A website that promoted the protest said its mission was to advocate “for the elimination of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) curriculum, pronouns, gender ideology and mixed bathrooms in schools.”
According to the organizers, the march has a single demand: “To protect our children from indoctrination and sexualization.” One protestor, Nathan McMillan, said “he was at Queen’s Park to ‘support children and the importance to maintain their innocence,’ while citing concerns around gender curriculum and age-inappropriate books.”
Cosmin Dzsurdzsa, senior researcher at the True North Centre, shared a video of the protests on X (formerly Twitter) and explained, “Scenes from Ottawa right now where thousands of parents and kids are protesting explicit sexual content in schools and radical gender ideology. These protests are absolutely massive and across the entire country.”
In response to the protests, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, arguably one of the most radical progressive and pro-homosexual/transgender leaders in the world right now, posted a shockingly nonsensical statement that dismissed the concerned parents and sided with the radical gender ideology indoctrination. He said:
“Transphobia, homophobia, and biphobia have no place in this country. We strongly condemn this hate and its manifestations, and we stand united in support of 2SLGBTQI+ Canadians across the country — you are valid and you are valued.”
No, that’s not another language. It’s not even French. It’s genderese — a string of words that would have been incomprehensible to any sane person prior to the sexual revolution. And it is double-speak, fitting of the worst Communist totalitarians, as Trudeau labels parents who want to protect their kids from pornographic books in school or from being “transitioned” by teachers without their knowledge or consent as spreading “hate.”
Hate is actually a good word for what is happening in Canada — not for the actions of the protesting parents but the sinful, state-sponsored rebellion against God’s creation order and biological human blueprint for sex and gender.
Psalm 139:21-22 speaks of a righteous hatred for those who rebel against God’s commands:
“Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies.”
It’s good and right to have a God-honoring hatred against those who would corrupt and poison children with satanic visions of transgenderism and sexually explicit materials.
What lesson should American parents learn from this? It almost goes without saying, but it must be said: Get your kids out of public schools. A few weeks ago, one account on X, End Wokeness, shared a picture of a bulletin board from the hallway of an elementary school (location unspecified) that listed and displayed the “flags” of no less than 14 different “sexual orientations” ranging from pansexual to demisexual to genderqueer. The conclusion? “This looks like an ad for homeschooling.”
What happens in Canada isn’t staying in Canada — or California. What the Canadian parents are protesting right now is already here in our own schools today. Will American parents rise up in a similar demonstration, tens of thousands strong, to tell our state and federal governments that this indoctrination has no place here?
We can hope and pray for just such a turn in the tide of the affairs of men, because our children — who are precious gifts from God to parents, not governments — are counting on us.
